The whites, blacks and grays

The three primary colours –blue, green and red . Then there are the blacks and the whites. This is what we were told at the start of our lives. Then as we progressed in our lives we got to know about complex colours . Now when we have seen life on our own we have discovered the mouves, peaches and turquoise. No i am not starting a colour teaching session.

All i am saying is that like colours as we grow up we see various facets of life which make us differentiate between the good , the bad and the umm the ok ones .....when we were young we were fascinated by any new colour, any new dress we saw, ant new toy kept on that mesmerising self where the most attractive of products were kept for display.

Now we are bound ....we look at a new dress which seems to draw you towards it....but then we look at the wallet which shouts “This is the budget for this month, dare not spend it “.But our heart still keeps beating for that dress or the one next to it. Trying to make a pact between heart and wallet we settle for the dress which makes the heart happy and the wallet not too angry!!!

Any fight in childhood is solved easily and fast. We shout “He took my candy , I am not talking to him any longer”. The “he” says sorry and mom gives you two candies in compensation. You happy, happy, dispute resolved...simple wasn’t it??? There was either black or white...even a gray did not exist.

But now there are many sides to an issue, any issue not just shades of gray but spectrum of colours. The good, bad, ok depends on the context, perspective and use. We no longer bluntly accuse him of stealing our candy. We think what he will think, what our friends will say, what his family would say, is it right, is it polite ,blah blah blah...... We keep the spectrum to ourselves, keep matching the best of colour mixes and then present our condition in the most pleasant to eye combination.

Our sadness has grades....i don’t feel good, i feel terrible, i m lost.....and our happiness also has various heights...i m glad, i m happy, i feel good, i m on the top of the world....every emotion we feel has various colours attached to it, every decision we take has various view points attached to it and every action taken by us has various implications to it...

Thats the youth story but as u grow old and the get into the grandma, grandpa stage we again start seeing the colours again in more basic shades...Reasons??? Your eyesight is detoriating, you are not bothered about others, you have had your share of choices and you do not want any more and last you wanna have a blast in the last phase of life.

You see, feel , realise various colours , various emotions during this journey of life. But in the end you realise that only the whites and the blacks exist, only goods and bad, there are no grays,no oks.... at the end they just seem to be ILLUSIONS of the mind ......

JUGAAD

This word has various interpretations in various minds .But for me , I liked and am in total consent with what I read on the t shirt of a guy…..The tshirt had JUGAAD printed in bold and just blow it was written a line “The Indian word for creativity”. India is known for its innovations at the cheapest of costs involved. The people who come to visit India are often amazed at the fact that even after having such a large population and chaos, India works efficiently.
The Indians cannot survive without jugaad. How to catch a train on time when you are impossibly late by asking the auto wala to do some jugaad, How to get your file through a series of “friendly”(pun intended) government officials, How to make seating arrangements by using storage trunks, how to make a scooter run for the longest distance with the petrol on reserve by tilting the scooter every now and then on the way…these are things an Indian knows by the virtue of being an Indian.
For majority of Indians, jugaad is creativity, innovation but for some others it is making the seemingly impossible work at the minimal resources present. Quoting my friend here “Jugaad is getting the easiest and most effective solution at the scarcest of resources”. A country like India where people are faced with different situations each day , you can witness the most innovative solutions . I witnessed such a solution the other day on the trip to Lavassa, the first integrated township and hill city .On our way we crossed the area where people face four months of heavy rains each year. Most of the people residing there are villagers who neither find the idea of raincoats effective nor have the comfort of carrying an umbrella to the fields. So the people have designed their own versions of suitable rain shields. They cut the sack (boris) in such a way that it can be easily placed on their heads and over the sacks they have a heavy plastic cut in the same manner as to suit their needs,or at times a plastic sack was proving effective. While wearing these they can roam around freely on the fields and the investment is also negligible. This is “JUGAAD” of India.
The major point for the Jugaadis is that they never say “NO”. They just get the work done. Their decision is not irrational but is rather affected by various factors.

Jugaad sells in India. The biggest example infront of us are the Dabbawallas who manage to make the tiffins reach the customers just before lunch and make it reach their individual homes before the person leaves office for home by the simple color coding which not only determines the tiffin routing but also tiffin prioritizing as tiffins differ from train to bicycle to foot. No science ,no major technology just a plain simple Jugaad of playing with colors has made them achieve virtual six-sigma quality.
North India has moved a step forward in selling the word and its feel to the people. They have introduced a motor vehicle by the name “jugaad” costing around 20,000 bucks. The funda of the vehicle is simple- wooden planks, tyres, water pumps converted to engines and diesel and your are ready to roll……agreed that it has its negative points but it sells and there is no refutation regarding that.
TATA Motors also excelled at selling the dream of the common man by achieving something that even the best of automobile companies could not achieve. They thought and dreamt of selling a car at less than $3,000. When the world was busy with product enhancement they found the solution for the dreams of the millions of India who have been dreaming for years of replacing their bikes with automobiles. They did the “jugaad”.
In essence jugaad much of India runs on Jugaad .In an examination if you do not have a scale you make do with the pencil box for drawing the lines ,if you have a skin problem you prefer using the local herb than going to the dermatologist ….Love it ,Hate it, Ignore it but knowingly or unknowingly we all at some time or other do the “ JUGAAD “ 

Random thots at two am

First i m wondering what to write abt....and second thinking how to go about it...so i thought just let me share few random thoughts coming in my dimwit brain at this hour of d night or morn is it??? first thought came to my mind was to thank the inventor of headphones which enable you to hear your kinda songs at full volume even with ur roomie sleeping d room :P....doesnt it feel great at times just to plug in the headphones listen to your fav songs and just do nothing?? the feeling of being with yourself conquers many others.....

second i just opened my fb account and found my home page flooded with posts of my friends....at two am my world is yet not asleep ....who says early to bed and early to rise makes a person healthy wealthy wise ???these are d people who have made my life, made me d way i am and however much i thank dese idiots .....it wont be enuf...true we have had our share of fights, disputes, shoutings ,periods of cold war ....but then is that not d beauty of life???? if everything was good and happy and pleasant what would be d point ???would we even then crave for those precious moments with our select few as we do now??? would we not miss d way we tease each other, get angry, and den try to pacify each other ...or after days of cold war facing each other and saying..."chal ho gayi nautanki" and then give each other the best of d hugs to let d other one know that whatever happens m dere wid u ???i surely would....and so tonight at this weird hour i want to say to all my friends "I LOVE U ALL"...

What is Friendship

Below are my thoughts about Frienship..

Today i was thinking why i am happy ? why i am enjoying ? soon i got the answer ---- "friends" ...i really thank god for giving me nice friends , i really feel this is a gift to me.....den i went back to my old days and thought is this love or friendship that matters most ....i felt and realised its frienship as loving relationship makes one so much attached to the other, that one gets pained if his/her beloved is hurt! so i always wanted this friendship to go along with me for rest of my life....So what exactly is friendship? How do we define it? Why do we call a person our friend? When do we call someone a very good friend? These are questions to which answers can be sought....what i think Friendship is not a state of mind, it's an act. It's something you do, it's not about whether you're good or not, it's not a reflection of you, it's a balanced relationship between people. It varies from person to person... morover...to define friendship i cud say that:We call those people our friends whomWe care about them,With whom we share most of our thoughts,We can always count upon our during an emergency and most important we enjoy fullest with themwhen love hurts you come to ur frnds and share ..that makes u happy when ur boss grills u . one of your friends gives u sympathy and ideas to overcome that ..i really felt this "occurence" to be very b'full as life is to live and all things will b ease if you have angels( friends) around you...

These are my feelngs about Friendship

Hope you all appreciate it..

My Few poems

A Little Crush

I told myself i was over you, but i guess it was just a lie, cuz every time i see you, that funny feeling arises, i really thought it was a phase, but now i see it's real, i wish that i could turn back time, to tell you how i feel, i regret i never told you, cuz i'll never know how things could've been, or if i actually would've had a chance, or would we still be friends, sometimes i wish this feeling would end, because it hurts so much, every time i see your face, i feel a little crush

Feelings

Sometimes in this lifetime, we meet a special soul, who fills our very essence, to almost overflow, we drink the cup of friendship, it tastes like ruby wine, and you know within your heart, this meeting was Divine. This soul that lives within your heart, no distance can prevail, an inner spark, within the heart, becomes a Holy Grail, the starting of a journey, in which you both shall be, a reflection of each other.
Love is a dream you wish upon a star and hope it comes true with all your heart.

Hope all of you like that

Home servers Tranquil

Tranquil PC Safe Server Module june 11, 2010 — jayendra
I have to confess to being a little puzzled when I was first handed the Tranquil Safe Server Module. From the brief I was given, I had assumed it was some sort of backup device to keep server data safe, used like an external hard disk.
But no, after visiting Tranquil PC product page for the Safe Server Module (SSM), I fully understood what this device is and what it is supposed to do. What we have here is a replacement system hard disk, one with dual 500gb hard disks, configured in a RAID 1 mirror, in the shape and size of a single SATA hard disk. Total WHS system disk protection.
Hardware
Although primarily intended for Tranquil PC’s SQA-5H range of servers, in reality the SSM should fit in all shapes and sizes of home servers and will protect them all equally. The SSM body is constructed from a brushed metal alloy, with plastic front and rear and feels strong and robust in the hand.

Up front are the drive bay doors and a couple of status lights. Accidental opening of the doors is prevented by the use of locking switches. The status lights normally blink green but will change to red in the event of a problem with a drive. If you have the SSM mounted out of sight inside a server, management software is supplied supplied to let you know what is going on.
The Tranquil PC SSM is based on the Silicon Image SiI5744 chip set, which in addition to the standard 3Gbps SATA port also provides access to the storage via a USB 2.0 connection. Although USB isn’t going to be much use in its intended day-job as a system disk replacement, Tranquil PC have conveniently left the USB 2.0 connection available so the SSM can also function as a USB hard disk. Used in this way, the SSM gets its power via USB and needs no other connections.

Around the back you see the USB 2.0 connector, SATA port, power and some DIP switches. The manual doesn’t cover the use of these switches, and when Tranquil PC support were asked what they were for, I was told they set the RAID function and it was best not to touch them. So I didn’t.

Access to the two 500gb disks is easily achieved by sliding the unlocking switch, and pushing the door open. The action of opening the door pulls the disk out of the drive bay. They are both Samsung drives is anybody is interested.
In Use
As it shares the same dimensions as a normal hard disk, physical installation of the SSM is as straightforward as installing any regular hard disk. The power and SATA connections are in the standard place so the SSM can be used in caddies, cradles or cases, and as it presents itself as an normal SATA disk there are no driver issues either.
One hurdle to using the SSM is the little matter of rebuilding your server. For servers with sufficient space and hard disks, you will need to enable folder duplication and rebuild your server with the SSM as its new system disk. The supplied instructions let you know how to do this for a SQA-5H, and you should follow the manufacturer instructions for you own particular server hardware, but please remember not to do a factory reset if you want to keep your existing data.

With the server rebuilt and the SSM in place, everything performed as normal. The SSM gave a good account for itself and was every bit as quick in performance as the hard disk it replaced. A bonus of using the SSM in a previously single disk server is that you now have a free hard disk to add back into the storage pool letting you to enable folder duplication.
The SSM comes with a management tool which gives basic information about the RAID 1 array and any issues it might have. This is particularly useful if you are installing the SSM into a chassis like the ASUS TS mini that does not allow you to see its front status lights.

In normal operation, everything is safe and happy.

But if you ever need to replace a drive, the array will automatically rebuild in the background while leaving the remaining drive available. This means you can get your server up and running quickly following on from a disk replacement, which is really the point of this device; resilience.
Verdict
This really is a very clever and impressive little device, directly addressing the inherent weakness of Windows Home Server system drive resilience.
In a single step, you add the reassurance of full system disk mirroring to a home server that wouldn’t previously be capable of RAID, giving you total protection from single hard disk failure.
Installation is as easy as installing a new hard disk and a system rebuild is really a small price to pay for this extra peace of mind.

So we can actually use it for production servers

Life is Beautifull

I am a great fan of the phrase that the life is beautiful. I Believe that it is the mirror reflection of your personality, if you are cheerful then you will find yourself living in the happiest place in the world, If you believe the world is not perfect then it will never be perfect. Everybody is right and at the sametime everybody is wrong, choice is yours... To be happy you have to start by deciding that you have to be happy. Just try it for one day and let me know if this works…
